Global Sources concluded the 13th International IC-China Conference & Exhibition (IIC-China) with a final stop in Shanghai. The event held across four venues in Chengdu, Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai attracted 36,046 visitors, up 21 percent from 2007. This was the largest-ever IIC-China, featuring more than 1,400 booths with over 400 exhibitors - up 37 percent and 47 percent respectively from 2007. IIC-China showcased the latest products and solutions from the world's top technology companies including Intel, Freescale, Semiconductor. Eight of the world's 10 largest semiconductor firms, including Intel, Freescale Semiconductor showcased their latest technologies including audio/video design and power efficient designs at the event.

Building on the successful 2007 debut of the event's Components Pavilion in Shenzhen, IIC-China expanded the Pavilion to three locations in Chengdu, Shenzhen and Shanghai in 2008. Combined, all three locations had featured over 300 Components Pavilion booths, up over 50 percent from last year. Experts from Altera, Fujisu, Micrel, International Rectifier, NEC and Shanghai Jade Technologies hosted more than 80 IIC-China Summits, Electronics Supply Summits and Vendor Seminars, meeting and networking with thousands of system design engineers and technical managers.

Mainland China's electronics industry has grown steadily in recent years. In 2007, the global semi-conductor industry grew at a rate of 3.2 percent to US$255.6 billion. In contrast, the industry in China alone grew 24.3 percent and totaled 125.1 billion.
